And now, of course, they are completely burying any reference by Disney of its classic cartoon/live action feature, “Song of the South”. BUT here’s the thing, B’rer Rabbit and B’rer Bear and the others are part of a treasured set of BLACK FOLKLORE! B’rer Rabbit is the Robin Hood of the enslaved blacks – a smart, tricky underdog (like the slaves who imagined him) who uses his wits to constantly get over on the more powerful, but doltish, whites. This was classic black literature, a story cycle which inspired the black populace (particularly the enslaved part) and gave them both hope and amusement. AND now the Left, utterly ignorant of history and culture, are destroying it. All the power of the ante bellum South couldn’t destroy B’rer Rabbit, but a handful of ignorant, self-satisfied white liberals have seen to it that he and all he represented are consigned to the scrap heap.
