I am a true feminist because I believe that ‘handle with care’ applies to all sexes. Unfortunately, we are yet to establish the above mentioned universally. They told us that everybody has a unique perspective since birth; an opinion that we should voice firmly. In that case, I am just following orders. Or rather, opening the blinds to let in some light.
They misunderstand us. Let me give you an insight into this severely ‘taken for granted’ concept. It is simple. We are true feminists, and I say this because we are a different breed, we are not the predators here.
I present you with the bona fide culprits, Radical and Intersectional feminists. Radical feminists want the tables to turn. They yearn power and control; to eliminate patriarchy, they want the alpha to give the pack up. And this, might I add, can get ugly. Then there are the intersectional feminists; they are the discrimination devotees. Their disregard towards black and homosexual people is infuriating. Not everyone is fully aware and well versed when it comes to this matter. Thus, the feminists are marked ingenuine. These people believe that women are born to rule.
If a woman chooses to stay at home, nurture her children and play a significant role in their upbringing, you have no right to shove it in her face that she should be a feminist because you are feeding her with the wrong knowledge. We feminists, encourage women to do what they wish to. Even if it means staying at home and being the pillar of her family. We encourage her just as much as we encourage women who choose to earn and live for themselves.
According to Oxford, feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. We abide by this. Nowadays, nobody makes an effort to honestly know the meaning of feminism or the purpose behind it. ‘Equality of the sexes’ stands for both the genders and not just either. What the radical feminists ask for is; men’s liberation is outdated, so let women take the throne. Tons have violated the true meaning, but it has not completely lost its essence. ‘Radical’ and ‘intersectional’ are words that have been hiding for too long now, and it has in-turn created chaos for the ones who support men too. The bell hooks vouch for men’s liberations, they believe and consistently continue to do so, they support us.
Men and women are equal. As of now, man has the better cards in this game, and all we want is for the game to be fair. And not that women should now have the control. Because of the people who deny the rights of men, wrong light projects on feminism. On social, economic and political platforms we ought to be equally treated in order to progress. The hate spreads like wildfire when one confuses themselves. We are not rooting for a male-dominated kingdom nor will we support a women-dominated kingdom. Feminism is looked down upon, just because of a few people. Yes, women should be demanding for an equal position at their workplace, yes they should roam around on the streets during night time without fearing assault and attack. But we also fight for men who fear vulnerability, who face the narrow mindset of people that believe all men are criminals. On social, economic and political platforms we ought to be equally treated in order to progress.

According to a survey held by the Washington Post and Kaiser Family Foundation says 6 in 10 women are strong feminists. 7 in 10 say that the movement is empowering. But 4 in 10 see it as an angry movement. We are not cruel, selfish and we definitely do not loathe men. Facts are being twisted and turned; they are taking advantage of the leverage they are presented with.
The truth is, it is a simple concept. There is no need for overthinking this. We have to take a stand. Feminism is a movement driven by people with a motive to live in a normal world. Where men and women don’t stand ahead or behind; they stand with each other. If men can support women, then it is high time women learn to support men too, instead of ignoring and overlooking their existence. Feminism, when said out loud, sounds like ‘feMENism’, apply that practically so we, the ones who support what’s right, don’t have to prove ourselves repeatedly. Don’t dig a grave when there is no dead body.
